No injuries were reported in Southington as Hurricane Irene leaves the area but the heavy rains and wind overnight caused considerable damage throughout the community.
A total of 3,465 people are without power, nearly 17 percent of the town, according to CL&P and many roads were closed as a result of fallen trees and power lines, according to the Southington Police Department's Facebook page.
Local residents are asked to stay off roads through the duration of the storm and to allow for cleanup.
