Why did you run for office?

In 1990 my Uncle “Walter Derynoski” asked if I would have an interest in running for a position on the school board. After careful thought I figured I would give it a try. Now after over 20 years of service, we still have many challenges that have to be addressed to insure that our children get the education that they need to be successful in the 21st century.

If elected, what would be your primary areas of focus?
Maintaining class size is the basis for high student achievement.

What do you feel is the biggest issue facing Southington today?
The cost of education is and will remain a major issue. We need to continue to work with our state representatives in Hartford to see that mandates are funded through the state and not on local tax payers.

What skills do you have that you could bring to the community?
My years of experience on the BOE as well as business knowledge has and will continue to add insight to the issues that come before the board.
