8th Annual Betty Kroher Birthday Blood Drive
The Orchards at Southington will
host on Saturday, Nov. 16, the 8th Annual Betty Kroher Birthday Blood Drive in
honor of the 85th birthday of the retired leader of the former Southington Red
Cross.
Mrs. Kroher served as the first
and only executive director of the local chapter from 1964 until the
Southington office was disbanded in 1992. The blood drive pays homage to her each
year around the time of her October birthday.
Continuing to volunteer for
organizations including the Calvanese Foundation, she is scheduled to be on
hand throughout the day to greet blood donors, friends and family and to help honor
the recipient of the inaugural Betty Kroher Humanitarian Spirit Award.

At the 2009 drive, she was
presented with the first Southington Humanitarian Award, which was subsequently
renamed in her honor.
The blood drive will run from
