Blessing of the Animals

On Sunday, August 31, at 9:30 a.m., a blessing of the animals service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Southington. The service will be held outside, under a tent, on the front lawn of the church. This traditional ceremony is conducted annually in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the saint who loved all birds and animals, and to express gratitude to the animals in our care.

All are welcome to attend. Bring your pets on leashes, in crates, or come on horseback! Pets of all types, shapes and sizes are invited for an individual blessing. It could be your dog, cat, bird, turtle, hamster or whatever type of pet you have. All stuffed animals are also invited. You should expect barking, howling, hissing – all in all, great fun for the animals which bring us so much enjoyment. Water and treats will be provided for the animals.

Please join us at First Lutheran Church, which is located at 232 Bristol Street in Southington for this special event.
