Elementary and Middle School students can participate for free!

Artists will have up to 3 hours (9am - noon) to create a work of art using the pavement as their canvas. The suggested theme is "The Art of Food" but artists are free to interpret the theme in any way they are inspired to do so.

While the chalk artists are hard at work, we would like photographers to take pictures the event.

You can use your smartphone, iPhone, digital camera, or film camera to

capture the spirit of the event. Our goal is to create a

photo-documentary of the entire festival so we want you to shoot

everything!

Photographers using digital media that day will have the option of submitting their photos immediately to the Meriden Arts Council for placement on our Facebook page. This will allow us to create our Facebook album in real time.

After the 3 hours are up, the chalk art will be judged and prizes will be awarded according to age group:

High School $50, College $50, Adult $50, Group $100, Best in Show $100

The second part of the event happens at Gallery 53 in August (Date TBD).

This is where the full photo-documentary of the event will be on display for the pubic.

Registered photographers will be able to submit up to 5 photos for

consideration. All accepted photos will be printed, framed, and

displayed at Gallery 53. The public will be invited to the gallery

opening to come in to view the photos from the Festival.

During the gallery opening, the photos on display will be judged and prizes will the awarded according to age group.

High School $50, College $50, Adult $50, Best in Show $100

Photographers will also receive their printed and framed photographs to take home with them once the exhibit closes.

Both chalk artists and photographers can pre-register using this Registration Form.
