Sometimes, we all need a helping hand. Neighbors, friends and families of those in need are reaching out to the community via the fundraising site GoFundMe. They’re raising funds for various causes including those who have suffered great losses or assisting folks in other ways such as volunteer work.
Some of the people featured reside in Berlin and Southington; others have a connection to the towns. For more information, visit their GoFundMe page, shown below.
Lauren is asking the public's help in assisting her in funding a trip to South Dakota. As she writes on her GoFundMe page, "I am very excited to be one of the chosen students to represent the Tunxis Dental Hygiene Program for their annual service learning project. This spring, I am traveling to South Dakota to provide dental services for the Lakota Tribe of the Cheyenne River Reservation."
Lauren notes that the Lakota tribe is one of the poorest populations in the United States.
"Without adequate access to dental care, this population has an extremely high rate of cavities causing pain and discomfort for many people. Our mission for this trip is to improve upon the oral health of people in the community."
