'Paint A Pumpkin' Returns to Plantsville

The popular children's Halloween contest returns next week. Will you be entering?

Jack-o-laterns and pumpkins are a sign of the season and although Halloween in the Village won't run at full scale this year, the tradition remains alive thanks to the Arc of Southington.

"Paint A Pumpkin" returns in 2013 on Oct. 24, with children ages 1 to 12 eligible to enter. Just bring your painted (not carved) pumpkins to the Plantsville Village Green near the gazebo on before 6 p.m.

Pumpkins will be judged and displayed for public viewing, and winners will be announced on Thursday at 7 p.m. on the green. A rain date has been set for Friday, Oct. 25.

Prize categories include:

  • Funniest pumpkin
  • Scariest pumpkin
  • Most creative pumpkin
  • Most original pumpkin
  • Best in age group

Pumpkins will be judged in the following age categories:

  • 1 - 3 years
  • 4 - 6 years
  • 7 - 9 years
  • 10 - 12 years

You must be present at the time of the judging. For further information, contact (860)628-9220 ext. 100.
