Livestrong at the YMCA Fitness for Cancer Survivors

The Southington Community YMCA offers Livestrong at the YMCA fitness program for cancer survivors

The Southington Community YMCA is offering the Livestrong at the YMCA Program, a free 12 week, small group fitness program designed for adult cancer survivors 18 and over under the guidance of specially trained health and wellness staff. Participants do not need to be a current member of the YMCA or need to be a Southington resident. This program will begin the week of January 7, 2013. The morning class will be held on Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and the evening class is held on Monday and Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. The program is designed to help those affected by cancer gain strength, endurance and function lost through treatment and to gain emotional support and self esteem. The program focuses on the whole person not just the disease. The class format consists of cardio, strength and flexibility segments and is tailored to fit each individual’s needs. Each participant is given a free 12 full YMCA membership and may use any of the Southington Community YMCA facilities during our hours of operation. To register or for more information please contact Linda Prus at 860 426-9531 or check our website at www.sccymca.org.
