Antoinette Bernard, 93; Plantsville Resident Who Was a Retired Nurse

Antoinette (Lagana) Bernard, 93, of Plantsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Highland Health Care in Cheshire.

She was born on April 13, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Amenta) Lagana. Prior to her retirement she had worked extensively as a nurse, throughout Connecticut and Florida.

She is survived by two sons, Kevin and his wife Nancy Bernard of Plantsville and Patrick Rungi of Southington, a daughter Patricia and her husband Richard Egidio of Southington, seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of Romeo Bernard. 

She also was predeceased by a daughter Linda Rungi, five brothers Joseph, Anthony, Sal, Sam and Paul, and three sisters, Pauline Yother, Nancy Foffa and Mary Lagana.

Antoinette’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Highland Health Care for their loving care of Antoinette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 30 at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St. Plantsville. There are no calling hours.
