The following is an editor’s note from Southington Patch Local Editor Jason Vallee. It reflects his opinion and a thank you from Patch.com for those of you who followed us throughout the storm.
When the dropped trees and lines across the community and state, I knew I was in for a busy week ahead at Southington Patch.
Our primary goal is, and always will be, to provide you with the latest, most up-to-date information and during the storm there was a lot of that to give you in Southington. We were looking both locally and statewide at the affects the storm and outages had on our community – and you played a big part in helping us do that.
From day-to-day, we received information from a variety of town officials as well including , Southington police and fire officials, members of the CERT team, public works officials and others. Margaret Waage also stepped in last weekend to give me a quick breather and provide continued information as I prepared for the election coverage – another series of articles which received an incredible number of hits.
But the most important information we received was the countless tips and even pictures from our readers, many who followed every step of the way.
For a new website to have the kind of numbers we had reflects well upon us, but it reflects even more considerably upon the desire of our community to stay informed and help each other stay informed.
For that, I wanted to take a moment to present a heartfelt thank you to those who contributed and those of you who continue to follow us and read every day. It’s appreciated more than you know and is what motivates me to continue doing this job every day.
Thank you from Southington Patch and we hope you keep using the website daily.
Sincerely,
Jason Vallee
