Patricia Ann McDonald, 73, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2014. 

She was born in Waterbury on July 11, 1940 to Laurence and Edna “Irene” (Brodeur) McDonald and was raised in Thomaston where she attended local schools.

Patricia received her college degree from American International College in Springfield, MA and began her career in the treasurer’s Office at Trinity College in Hartford. She then took a position with the State of Connecticut in the department of Student Finances in the Community College System where she worked until her retirement.

“Pat” loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She always remained loyal to her Thomaston roots and was active in the Thomaston Historical Society.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Janice Freeman and her husband Peter, who have been devoted to her care for many years and by her dear cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington on Wednesday, July 9. All are asked to go directly to church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington.
