Patch's Poll: Are You In Favor of the New Britain-Hartford Busway Project?

A project to create a rapid busway line between the two cities is expected to cost over $500 million.

Construction into a new $550 million rapid transit bus line between New Britain and Hartford started this past summer.

The 9.4-mile long rapid bus route, dubbed “CTfastrak,” is meant to alleviate traffic on the highway between these two cities, and to encourage mass transit projects for the future. It's also expected to bring construction jobs to the area, as the project will take a few years to complete.

But the busway hasn’t been without controversy. Several lawmakers opposed it back in April, as reported by the Hartford Courant, and according to CTNewsJunkie.com there is a dispute over the fact that the project would close a street in Hartford.

And there are those who are upset about it cutting into their neighborhoods, like New Britain resident Rick Nelson who told WTNH it was a “waste of money and time.”

What are your thoughts on this bus project? Do you support it or do you think it’s a bad idea? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.
