Patch's Poll: Romney Picks Paul Ryan as VP; What's Your Take?

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney settles on a fiscally conservative member of the House of Representatives as his running mate in the 2012 election.

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has chosen Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate for the November election.

Romney announced the decision in a press release Saturday morning, titled “America’s Comeback Team,” as well as through his “Mitt’s VP” smart phone app.

Ryan, 42, is in his seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Wisconsin’s First Congressional District. He’s also a chairman of the House Budget Committee, and last year he unveiled a counter budget titled “Roadmap for America’s Future,” which proposed to eliminate the federal deficit over a multi-year period.

Democrats and liberals derided the budget, however, saying it focused more on cuts to spending for social programs and less on tax cuts for the wealthy.

The Huffington Post notes that both liberals and conservatives will be “thrilled” with Romney’s choice.

Do you think Mitt Romney made the right choice in choosing Paul Ryan as his running mate in the 2012 presidential race? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.

@Nesbit, This is such a non issue non starter. We have an unsupported statement from Reid, that does not make it actually fact, from an unknown person claiming something crazy. So I guess his taxes are more important than the issue that NEED to be discussed. Remember to Vote today if your a Republican or Democrat. :-)

The stimulus to the banks was paid back under the Obama stimulus, NOT Bush's. Further, the SEC is suing those same banks for fraud doubling our return. Unemployment is at 8% and don't believe the deficit numbers. Everyone has a different number to say. You say "liberals blame" but that is all I see you doing here. Reagan had a lot of horrible policies that led to this as well. Namely de-regulation of corporations, allowing them to move overseas and pay less in wages and taxes. No one did anything to overturn those policies. Neither Dems or Republicans. Maybe YOU should stop pointing fingers. (And get your facts straight, because you seem to be buying hyperbole and forgetting that the Tea Party has held up Congress for two years now.) This is a problem created by politicians, not parties.

Don't like socialism? Are you homeschooled? How about the police and fire protection we all enjoy? Where do you drive? Roads are socialist ideas. Maybe you should look up words too... Just sayin.

@Britt, Reagan of 30 years ago... is the same as saying Kennedy of 50 years, ago is responsible as well. Lousy argument, sorry. The truth is the Dems ran the House during most of the Reagan years. The Reps during most of the Clinton years, and into most of the Bush2 years. Obama had total control in his first 2 years, and lost the house in the second 2 years. So if something did not get done in the first 2 years, whose fault was it? In the 2nd he lost the House, but controlled the Senate. So all he had to work with was the House. His policies were very left of center, and that created the problems. Your comments are vague and unsubstantiated. The same issue as Harry's granted I agree, but unsubstantiated never the less. http://uspolitics.about.com/od/usgovernment/l/bl_party_division_2.htm People wake up and smell the coffee... blaming Wall Street for every ill, is like blaming a beaver dam for mighty Mississippi flooding over. The blame rests with the first line of defense. Real estate Agents that benefited fro selling homes to people who could not afford them PERIOD!!! Just because there is a bag of money on the street in front of you, does not mean you should take it as your own! If you say yes, you should take it, well the problem is with you.

@ Britt, those items were actually capitalist ideas, as you may remember we an one time had tolls on the roads that those that used the roads paid for the roads... Still continues in MA, and NY and Jersey, and I can go. Some have even sold the roads to OMG private companies! In older times many roads were toll roads. Just saying.
