Patch's Poll: Romney Picks Paul Ryan as VP; What's Your Take?

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney settles on a fiscal conservative member of the House of Representatives as his running mate in the 2012 election.

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has chosen Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate for the November election.

Romney announced the decision in a press release Saturday morning, titled “America’s Comeback Team,” as well as through his “Mitt’s VP” smart phone app.

Ryan, 42, is in his seventh term in Congress representing Wisconsin’s First Congressional District. He’s also a chairman of the House Budget Committee, and last year he unveiled a counter budget titled “Roadmap for America’s Future,” which proposed to eliminate the federal deficit over a multi-year period.

Democrats and liberals derided the budget, however, saying it focused more on cuts to spending for social programs and less on tax cuts for the wealthy.

The Huffington Post notes that both liberals and conservatives will be “thrilled” with Romney’s choice.

Do you think Mitt Romney made the right choice in choosing Paul Ryan as his running mate in the 2012 presidential race? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.

@Sami, If Romney's Bain was financed (according to reports 40%) by the same families that financed & or organized Salvadorian "death squads" there is an issue here. http://www.democracynow.org/2012/8/10/romneys_death_squad_ties_bain_launched http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/08/mitt-romney-death-squads-bain_n_1710133.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular I don't know if this is true, but it deserves a thorough investigation in the same way that Obama's real/legal identity and past history does. http://youtu.be/zkwFBWPNwcI Why is it that both sides will never investigate these things? Is it that they are baseless? Well, if they are baseless then why not let an investigation determine this? The real reason is that both sides have the same agenda, the status quo and they watch each other's backs. And Sami, if you believe that a GOP leadership will "move this country forward without creating a larger welfare state for the chosen" then you have forgotten the GOP has had plenty of time to reign in entitlements and has done as little as it's counterparts. Romney invented ObamaCare, remember? As long as you believe any one entitlement is sacred like social security or medicare, you can't complain when the other side doesn't want it's welfare or medicaid axed. This is the losing game the GOP plays with the Dems and it's time to shift the paradigm.. This is Ryan's plan, to change NOTHING. I http://www.ezimages.net/upload/5MIN/HeresYourVastDif.gif

@Zachary Smith. Its really difficult to respond to your posting. Numbers presented by either side can be manipulated to show whatever the author wants the numbers to represent. Which plan is better? I am under the impression that the "D" side has not presented a plan publicly in the Senate. The "R" have published a plan as a starting point. As I said before, reference the conversion between Mr Clinton and Ryan which was accidently recorded by the press. Also, the co-authors of the Ryan plan include at least two democrates. Also remember that the "D"'s voted down the Obama plan in the Senate by a very large majority. His own party. Who are you kidding and what are you reading? 4 years of nothing has to stop and his dirty campaign highlights the Obama administration failure(s).

. zach, clearly you don't understand Keynes and believe me i'm not a Keynesian.but just to be clear ,Keynesial in a macro sense called for the management of an Economy during a recession to increase debt to spur investment and increase economic activity. Like you i agree that it is a perscription for ruin. At the same time where is growth going to come from in Johnsons plan essentially it reduces this country to Great Britain at the beginning of the 20th century. Isolated and retrenching from the economic world stage. To blindly show total debt absent its relation to growth is disingenuos. If you don't believe the projected rate of economic growth will occur that your right and is certainly debatable. What I do find very alarming about those like Paul and Johnson in fact most Liberterians is that when you begin to peel away much of cry of economic freedom and liberty in the end the begin to mimic those on the left where a minority can impose it's beliefs upon a majority.. . .
