Patch's Poll: Would You Vote For Obama or Romney if the Election Were Held Today?

The latest poll shows Obama still has a lead among Connecticut voters in the presidential race, although that lead is slipping when compared to the 2008 election.

President Barack Obama still has a pretty solid chance of winning Connecticut this November. But, according to the latest poll information, his margin of victory might not be as great as it was back in 2008.

According to the latest Public Policy Polling Institute numbers
, 51 percent of voters in Connecticut said they would vote for Obama if the election were held today, versus 43 percent for the presumed Republican candidate, Mitt Romney. Six percent said they were unsure.

The 8-point lead would clearly mean a victory in this state, although that’s a significant drop when compared to Obama’s victory in Connecticut back in 2008. That year, he won the race here by 23 points against John McCain, the PPP pointed out.

The polling agency has a full breakdown here
, including how Obama is doing among different racial and economic demographics.

So, with the latest data out, it’s time we do our own polling and find out where our Patch readers stand.

If the 2012 presidential election were held today, who would you vote for? Barack Obama or Mitt Romney? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.

Unless you really give some thought to your vote, think about the 8 years with G.W. B. Born again Christian who said he was ordained to be president and, wanted to leave a legacy. Well Damn it, he did leave a legacy and no one wants to take him to task. Legacy of an unnecessary war with Iraq over 3,500 of our military men and women killed and all the Iraqi civilians. Those who don't want Pres. Obama reelected, I ask you, is it his policies or are you racists. Wait, one day you will be of retirement age when you find the age of retirement has been raised and no industries are here to provide workers with a pension plan or health benefits. Then will you be willing to say "I made a mistake voting for Romney & Ryan"? I doubt it. God Bless America and all us veterans who fought so you can vote anyway you want.

Tony, even Obama wants to "tweak" social security: after the election he will sign off on the Bowles-Simpson proposal to raise the retirment age up a couple of years. So don't call us progressives rascists if we don't think Obama is not a progressive. Some of us are voting third party: Jill Stein or Rocky Anderson. Why vote for another candidate who talks left but walks right...right to Wall Street.

Tony, you don't like Bush because he was Christian, and you think voting against Obama makes you racist, so who here is the prejudiced one?
Guido October 16, 2012 at 02:26 PM
Obama talks left, walks right.

Just because someone doesn't support Obama doesn't mean they're a racist. I'm tired of these stupid remarks. Get real!
