SHS Cyber Knights Compete on the World Stage!

The SHS Cyber Knights travelled to St. Louis this week to compete in the World Championship of Robotics made possible by a generous UTC donation to pay their entry fee.
The Championship experience was amazing.  They travelled with their friends Team 558 from New Haven's Hill Regional Career High School in Dattco's new UCONN Huskies Championship bus that drew many waves and cheers from passers by.  Everyone knew Connecticut was represented!  Thank you to Dattco for getting the team there in style!
The Cyber Knights competed in Archimedes, one of four divisions, against 100 robots from 5 different countries.
After two days of qualification rounds, 100 robots are cut to 32 robots who advance to Elimination phase in each division.  The Cyber Knights showed their stuff during qualification rounds accumulating a 5-5 record but more importantly, the 8th highest "Offensive Power Rating" (OPR) in the division of 100 robots.  They were quickly drafted in the first round by the 6th ranked alliance but ended their run as quarterfinalists.
They now move onto the post season competitions and will be competing in the Connecticut State Championship in two weeks.  This post season event is only open to Connecticut Teams and is sponsored by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC).
Good luck Cyber Knights in the post season!
