Avon Police Arrest Teacher on Suspicion of DUI

Avon police said a Southington High School teacher was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence earlier this month.

Avon police arrested a science teacher in connection with a DUI incident earlier this month.

Salvatore Spagna, 27, of 55 Columbus Blvd. in Southington, was charged with operation of a vehicle while under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane on Aug. 6.

Police arrested Spagna at the intersection of Lovely Street and Chevas Road in Avon. There was no accident or further incident, police said. Spagna could not immediately be reached for comment.

Cezary Paliwoda, 45, of 20 Jordon Court in Southington, was charged with disorderly conduct, Aug. 13.

John Thayer, 56, of 219 Center St. in Manchester, was charged with probation violation, Aug. 15.
