Bristol Woman Charged With Stealing $1,307 from Target.

Police said Veronica Defosses took the money from her drawer in 2009 while working as a cashier.

A Bristol woman is facing charges after police said an investigation found she had stolen more than $1,300 from Target while working for the company as a cashier in late 2009.

Bristol police took Veronica T. Defosses, of 302 Burlington Ave. in Bristol, into custody on Tuesday after learning during an unrelated traffic stop that there was a warrant for her arrest. She was taken to Southington, where police booked her on one charge of fourth-degree larceny.

“Detectives were notified that Veronica had been caught on surveillance camera taking money from the register and slipping it into her pocket on at least four occasions between October 2009 and November 2009,” said Southington Police Sgt. Lowell DePalma. “The money stolen totaled $1,307.”

Defosses, 20, had been a cashier at the time. She is no longer with the company, staff at Target confirmed Thursday, but the company declined to comment further on the case.

Defosses was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court Tuesday and was released on a promise to appear. She is due back in court on July 7, according to court records.
