Cash Reward Offered for Information into Meriden Bank Robbery

Meriden police are continuing to investigate a bank robbery at the East Main Street branch of Wells Fargo Bank and with few leads, a cash reward is offered for any information leading to an arrest and conviction of the man involved.

This includes information provided by residents of surrounding towns, Meriden Police Sgt. Darrin McKay said.


Police are searching for the suspect, a black man in his 30s or 40s, who robbed the bank Thursday afternoon and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to the press release, Meriden police were called to Wells Fargo Bank at 820 East Main Street  around 3:58 p.m for a bank robbery where a lone suspect had already fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction, according to the report.

The bank teller told detectives that the suspect, described as a 6-foot-tall heavy-set black man between 30 and 40 years of age, handed over a note demanding money.

The suspect, police say, was wearing a bright yellow shirt with a black baseball cap with possibly a red-colored brim and may have had some kind of light facial hair.

No weapon was displayed or seen and no one was injured during the incident. The reports says a canine officer on duty tracked the suspect.
