Charges Quickly Mounting for Alleged Curtiss Street Burglar

Southington police said Tuesday that detectives are seeking additional warrants for Jordan Uliasz, now identified as the lone participant in a string of nighttime burglaries in the Curtiss Street area.

have used information gathered since the arrest of a Juniper Road teenager last week to identify him as the lone suspect in a string of overnight burglaries along Curtiss Street and are seeking eight additional warrants in the case.

Lt. Michael Baribault said Tuesday that detectives are preparing four additional warrants for burglary incidents, as well as four for attempted burglaries that Jordan Uliasz was allegedly involved in.

"Uliasz is the lone suspect in the burglaries," Baribault wrote in an email regarding the case Tuesday morning.

Officers took Uliasz, 19, into custody late last week after detectives were able to collect forensic evidence tying him to at least one of the burgalries, according to a press release from the Southington Police Department.

He was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court Friday on charges of first-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, home invasion and third-degree criminal mischief, according to court records. He is due back before a judge on July 27 and could be served with the latest warrants at that time, police said.

Baribault said it was initially unknown whether Uliasz had accomplices in the burglaries, but further investigation revealed that he had acted alone and was responsible for each of the thefts in the area, some which included substantial items of value taken directly from homes.

It has been a turbulent year for Uliasz, who was also arrested in January following two shoplifting incidents at the on Executive Boulevard and a third that took place at the on Queen Street. The thefts included Uliasz taking video game systems and other electronics, .

Court officials said Uliasz reached a plea agreement in April and agreed to enter guilty pleas to two counts of sixth-degree larceny. He was sentenced to 90 days in prison, execution suspended, and one year on probation.

Officials were unable to say Tuesday whether the latest incidents, which were a violation of his probation, could lead to additional charges.

Uliasz remains in custody in lieu of a $750,000 bond, court records show, and is currently being held at the Hartford Correctional Center, according to state Department of Correction records.
