Danbury Man Arrested in Connection With String of Thefts

Police said Brian Fitzpatrick was involved in a string of thefts from Lowe's Home Improvement stores over a two year period.

A routine traffic stop in Bristol led police to the arrest of a Danbury man that had been wanted in connection with an ongoing string of tool thefts from multiple Lowe’s locations in Connecticut in 2009 and 2010.

Officers with the took Brian Fitzpatrick, 39, of 28 Division St. in Danbury, into custody late last week on one charge of fifth-degree larceny. He was released on bond, but turned over to Waterford police where he was charged

Court documents showed he remains in state custody at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correction Center in Uncasville in lieu of a $25,000 court-set bond.

Police said the charges stem from a February 2009 theft in which surveillance cameras and other security tools found Fitzpatrick had taken $485 worth of power tools from the off of West Street.

“The connection was made after he was arrested in South Windsor last year for a similar alleged theft in which he took $678 in nail guns,” said Sgt. Lowell DePalma. “From Southington, he had allegedly taken two DeWalt jigsaws.”

Further investigation by company security revealed he had been committing the thefts at five stores across the state including in Meriden, which .

Calls made to the Lowe’s corporate security department were not returned Monday.

Fitzpatrick is due for arraignment in Bristol Superior Court on Aug. 22.
