Details Scarce in Weekend Econo Lodge Shooting as Police Seek Witnesses

Police said an unnamed 25-year-old male was shot in leg at the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike hotel, but officers are releasing few details as an investigation continues.

A 25-year-old is in stable condition after being shot in the leg and groin area on Saturday morning, but few details are available as officers continue to investigate and seek help from the public in catching the gunman involved.

Police said Monday afternoon that the victim, a male that has not been identified, suffered a gunshot to his thigh and groin area just after midnight and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Officers were dispatched to the Econo Lodge, located near the TravelCenter of America location on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike around 12:45 a.m. Saturday with reports of a male who had been shot. He was located and taken to the hospital, but the gunman was not found.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation and at this time it appears that this is an isolated incident,” Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said Monday.

Anyone who may have information regarding this case is asked to call the Southington Police Department Detective Div. Detective Adam Tillotson at 860-378-1667.

Police have not said whether there are any leads in the case. Dobratz said the department would release further information as it becomes available.
