Police Crack Down on Cell Phone, Seatbelt Violations

Arrest information was supplied by the Southington Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Since October 2005 when Connecticut's phone law went into effect many drivers took to blue tooth devices. Some can't kick the chat habit and continue to talk with phone in hand while driving, leading to nearly a dozen separate tickets being issued over the weekend.

In addition, six others were also cited for violation of seatbelt laws during the crackdown.

The Southington Police Department also reported the following arrests:

Jeffrey W. Woodworth, 19, of 20 River View Court in Cheshire, was charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane and possession of marijuana, Aug. 17.

Michael E. Bielewicz Jr., 23, of 476 Flanders St. in Southington, was charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane and failure to signal turn, Aug. 18.

Rhiannon M. Daley, 31, of 469 Main St. in Southington, was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief, Aug. 18.

Ralph Marro Belfi, 58, of 284 Bristol St. in Southington, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive in proper lane, misuse of registration and operating unregistered motor vehicle, Aug. 16.

Shannon M. Gonzalez, 39, of 213 West Side Boulevard in Unionville, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, Aug. 19.

Kara L. Beharry, 29, of 73 Wheeler Village Rd. in Southington, was charged with disorderly conduct, Aug. 19.

Gregory A. Wilkes, 28, of 73 Wheeler Village Rd. in Southington, was charged with disorderly conduct, Aug. 19.

Natasha C. Gee, 22, of 338 Dyckman St. in Peekskill, N.Y., was charged with second-degree breach of peace, and violation of protective order, Aug. 20.

Artur Y. Kasinski, 19, of 33 Muir Terrace in Southington, was charged with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief, Aug. 20.
