Fatal Crash on I-84 in Southington Early Sunday

The following information was provided by the Connecticut State Police Troop H.

A driver died early Sunday morning after crashing into an "illumination pole" along on I-84 East in Southington, causing the vehicle to roll over, State Police from the Troop H barracks in Hartford reported.

Andrew Santos, 29, of Hartford, was driving three others "in the area of Exit 28" when he lost control of his 2006 Infinity and veered "into the right shoulder between the Exit 29 off-ramp and on-ramp," state police said in the accident report. The car rolled over immediately after striking a light pole on the shoulder, state police said, and the airbags were deployed.

State police responded at 2:33 a.m. to the accident scene, located about one tenth of a mile west of Exit 28 in Southington, according to the accident report.
