Former Southington Resident Arrested After ‘Touching Himself at Little League Game’

Hartford police arrested Scott Weiner late last week after he allegedly fondled himself at a Little League game – and it's not the first time the former Southington resident has been charged with committing sexual acts in front of children.

A former Southington man embattled in his previous neighborhood following allegations of luring a teenager into a sexual relationship with alcohol in the late 1990s is facing charges again – this time after allegedly touching himself in front of children at a Hartford Little League game.

Hartford police last week arrested Scott Weiner, 50, after a baseball coach called officers to report a man was inappropriately fondling himself while watching the game at Colt Park in Hartford.

Weiner was taken into custody and charged with risk of injury to a minor/impairing the morals of a minor and second-degree breach of peace. Police are also looking into accusations that the Hartford resident had approached several children while walking his two dogs and asked inappropriate and sexually oriented questions, according to the police report.

And it’s not the first time the former Southington resident has been in trouble in cases involving approaching minors for sex.

While living in the Marguerite Street area of Southington, police arrested a then 33-year-old Weiner on charges that he told a 15-year-old boy he liked his bicycle, striking up a conversation before becoming friends with the boy.

The Hartford Courant reported in 1997 that court documents showed the two would meet as many as four times a week at Weiner’s home, where he provided the boy odd jobs around the house. Weiner would then turn on an adult entertainment channel and talk about masturbation. He is also alleged to have bought the minor alcohol and established a sexual relationship with him.

Weiner was eventually convicted in the first case and left Southington.

Residents in his former neighborhood said Weiner was also involved in alleged sexual assault cases involving minors with developmental disabilities. Residents declined comment further on the case, other than to say they were glad “he’s back behind bars.”

In 2010, he pled guilty to one count of failure to register as a sex offender and eventually served six months in prison, according to court records.

Weiner posted bail following the latest incident and is due in Hartford Superior Court for arraignment later this month, police said.
