Four Injured in Crash on Andrews Street

Police say a passenger in the car, who was not named, remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Driver is a 20-year old from Berlin.

Four area residents were injured, including one critically, in an accident along Andrews Street after the driver of the car left the road and hit a tree, police said Tuesday.

Three of those injured including the driver, Carlos A. Taverner of Berlin, suffered minor injuries but the fourth occupant remains in critical condition at a local hospital, police said. The names of the passengers and the hospital they were sent to were not immediately released.

Taverner, 20, of Gianna Lane in Berlin, had been traveling eastbound in his 2010 Hyundai Elantra along Andrews Street nearing the Berlin town line when he veered off the road and struck a tree. The accident caused extensive damage to the car, police said.

Further details of the accident are not being released at this time and the case remains under investigation.
