Funds Stolen From Bank Customers Were Given to Boyfriend, Warrant Says

The arrest warrant for a Southington woman charged with diverting statements and withdrawing money amounting to $175,000 to help her jobless boyfriend and to pay for bills, including some for her sick father.

A Southington woman while working as an assistant manager at the TD Bank on Queen Street had apparently used the money to help her unemployed boyfriend and pay for bills for her sick father, police said.

In an affidavit from detectives at the Southington Police Department, police said Amanda Callahan confessed to taking the money and trying to divert funds in order to cover it up until the money was returned.

The warrant states that Callahan, 31, had intended to just borrow the money from accounts, most which came from a single customers account while he was in California.

The Record-Journal reported Friday that Callahan would withdraw as much as $3,000 at a time and would give the money to her boyfriend. She said she is not sure what he did with the money:

"Callahan said she got behind on bills when her boyfriend lost his job, she lost her second job and her father became ill," the Record-Journal reported.

According to court records, Callahan was arraigned last week on various charges including first-degree larceny, first-degree computer crime and numerous counts of forgery. She is due back in Bristol Superior Court on Oct. 24.

This girl is horrible and so was her manager at the time that was working with her. I knew that she would use her father as a scapegoat! I hope she goes to jail for a long time.
