West Hartford police said a driver who hit a parked car in West Hartford Center carved before parking his pickup truck on Fox Meadow Lane. Police said they followed a trail of debris and damage to nine properties on five streets before they found a black Chevrolet Silverado in a driveway with two flat tires and heavy front-end damage. The owner of the truck, Thomas S. Curran, 25, of Glastonbury, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, interfering with an officer and criminal mischief. Police said he denied having been the driver.
Fairfield police on Sunday arrested a man accused of by stealing a golf cart from one course and smashing it into golf carts at another. Police said the man stole a golf cart from an elderly woman playing golf at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield and drove the cart to Fairchild Wheeler Golf Club, where he smashed it into three golf carts, causing $1,600 in damage, as well as additional damage to the greens. Masanobu E. Massiah, 25, of Bridgeport, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal trespass, one count of first-degree criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree larceny.
Thieves after hours, grabbed an ATM inside and made off with it, police said. A patrol officer later spotted the car and another thought to be involved in the heist, and gave chase. One car got away and three suspects abandoned the other in a parking lot and ran off, police said. The ATM was recovered from the car but the suspects remain at large.
A woman drove her car into the front of a bank in Oxford because she , police said. The bank was closed at the time, and nobody was injured. The woman was not charged.
An ultralight plane failed to gain enough power to climb out of Skylark Airport in and in East Windsor, police said. The pilot was not injured but had to be rescued by the special operations team of the Enfield Fire Department using high-angled equipment.
