Home Damaged in Sun Valley Drive Fire

Fire officials are investigating the cause of Sunday evening blaze that destroyed the garage and two cars of a Sun Valley Drive home.

Two cars and a garage were destroyed Sunday night during a fire along Sun Valley Drive, but fire officials said residents were able to escape unharmed.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home with reports of a garage fire at 367 Sun Valley Drive around 10:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the attached garage fully engulfed in flames and smoke entering the home.

Fire crews were able to enter through the house and attack the flames from behind said Fire Capt. Mark Saucier, preventing flames from spreading into the house.

“The garage was destroyed along with two vehicles parked inside,” Saucier said in a press release. “The house also suffered some fire damage in the breezeway and kitchen and there was heavy smoke damage throughout the structure.”

The home’s residents were already outside when firefighters arrived.

The fire appeared to have started in the rear of the garage, but the exact cause remains under investigation, according to firefighters.
