[Update Monday, 5 p.m.] Investigation Into Suspicious Bus Stop Incident Closed with No Arrest

Suspicious incident involved an out-of-state friend of the family that the student was not familiar with, school officials and police said.

The all-call alert and Superintendent’s Blog message that was sent out Friday, December 16, 2011 in reference to the complaint of a suspicious male in the area of East Street has been resolved in a positive manner. Police are looking for help in identifying a man who approached a local students after she got off the school bus late last week and began asking her personal questions and questions about her family, police said.

The began investigating the incident after it was reported to officers shortly after it happened on Thursday afternoon. Police said the incident occurred on East Street near Under Mountain Crossing as the girl arrived home from school.

After being dropped off by the school bus, police said the girl began walking up her driveway when a blue and gray SUV pulled in behind her.

The girl reported that the male driver began asking her questions about herself and her family members. When the girl turned to run away, officers said the man exited the driveway and headed westbound along East Street.

The man is described as being in his 60’s with grayish, balding hair and missing teeth. Police said he sounds younger than he looks but also had an oxygen cannula in his nose.
