(Updated) Machiavelli's Cited After Officials Find Considerable Violations

Southington police said Monday that a weekend inspection led officers and fire inspectors to discover several operation violations at the popular Center Street restaurant.

Update
Machiavelli's owner Spendi Bomova told the Record-Journal Monday evening that the issues discovered during the inspection have been addressed and he doesn't anticipate any further issues.

In an interview with the Record-Journal, Bomova called many of the allegations a misunderstanding, saying that a low battery and a door that was unintentionally left locked were part of the issue.

Bomova also said the liquor in question is not to refill bottles, but used in cooking and told the following to the Record-Journal about the liquor accusations:

"There's a dining room and we are doing great dining room business," Bomova said.

Original Story
Machiavelli’s Restaurant is facing multiple citations after Southington police said Monday that the Center Street establishment was found in violation of numerous offenses during an investigation into reports of alleged underage drinking.

The Southington Police Department, in partnership with the Connecticut State Liquor Commission and the Southington Fire Department, conducted an unannounced inspection of the 75 Center St. on Saturday where the violations were discovered, Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said.

“This was a response to information received by the police department that there may be underage drinking occurring in this establishment,” Dobratz said in a press release. “This area of Center Street has also been attracting large crowds at the end of the night that at times has become violent and confrontational.”
