Man Tased in Shopping Line Incident at Walmart

Officers used a taser to subdue a New Britain man after he was combative and tried to cut a line just after midnight Friday morning.

Police used a Taser to subdue a New Britain man Friday after he allegedly cut in line at Wal-Mart and became combative with store personnel and officers when told he would have to go the end.

Officers arrested Patrick Brew, 32, following a heated incident at the in Southington just after midnight on Friday morning. Brew, of 216 Broad St. in New Britain, was charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond.

Police said the incident occurred as people were entering the Queen Street store to get Black Friday deals. When Brew cut line and began acting unruly, store personnel called police for help.

Brew was aggressive with officers when they arrived, police said. After trying to calm him down, officers were forced to use a Taser.

Further information has not been released. He is due in Bristol Superior Court for arraignment on Dec. 5.
