Many Cited in Cell Phone, Operating Unregistered Motor Vehicle

There were no arrests, but it was a busy weekend for police anyway as they issued more than 30 different citations.

It was a light weekend for officers, at least when it came to arrests.

Police reported no arrests over Veterans Day weekend, but officers remained busy as the issued more than 30 citations including 13 to drivers operating and unregistered motor vehicle and nine for people talking or texting on a cell phone while driving.

If the latest list of citations is any indication, it's bound to be a busy week for police as they kick off their annual Fall Click-It or Ticket campaign, which started Monday and runs through Nov. 21.

The department last week drivers talking on cell phones, Sgt. Lowell DePalma said, and that number is only likely to increase as the campaign continues. Officers will be setting up check points and conducting additional roving patrols as part of the effort.

"It's part of a proactive effort statewide," DePalma said last week.
