Meriden Investigation Nets Arrest in Two Southington Home Burglaries

Southington police said an interrogation into July burglaries in Meriden led detectives there to discover that an 18-year-old had also been responsible for two daytime home burglaries in Southington.

There were initially no leads to separate home burglaries in Southington along Savage Street and South End Road, but an interrogation into separate incidents in Meriden have helped police catch the man they said took electronics and jewelry from the two houses back in June.

Southington police served a warrant last week on Robert D. Fleezer, of 1025 Old Colony Road, in connection with the two home burglaries.

Fleezer, 18 is facing charges including two counts of third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny, third-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief. He remains incarcerated at the Manson Youth Institute in Cheshire in lieu of $51,000 in bonds, according to the state Department of Correction.

"Our detectives received information from the Meriden Police Department following an investigation into their own cases," Southington Police Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said. "It was determined that during an interrogation, he confessed to the Southington robberies."

According to police reports, the two homes were broken into sometime during the daytime on June 24.

Dobratz said the residents at both locations returned home to find various electornics items and jewelry missing. Both incidents were reported the same day, according to the police reports.

No one was in the homes at the time of the burglaries, police said.

Court records indicate that Fleezer has not entered a plea to the charges. He is due back in Bristol Superior Court on Oct. 15.
