Minor Injuries Reported as Motorcycle Hits Pedestrian on Main Street

Police said both Todd Olsen two people were treated for minor injuries after a motorcycle driven by Swanson collided with Olsen as he was crossing the street near Carter Lane Wednesday morning.

Southington resident Todd Olsen was taken to a nearby hospital with what police are describing as minor injuries and a Wolcott woman was also treated on scene after the motorcycle she was driving collided with Olsen near the intersection of Main Street and Carter Lane on Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said the accident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. as Wolcott resident Lori Swanson was traveling northbound along Main Street in the area of Carter Lane.

“She was traveling on Main Street when she struck the pedestrian, Todd Olsen, as he was crossing the road,” Dobratz said. “Olsen was transported to St. Mary's Hospital (in Waterbury) with minor injuries. Swanson also reported minor injuries.”

Police said that both were expected to make a full recovery.

The accident led police to close Main Street for several hours from Bristol Street to Maple Street and also led to detours on Carter Lane from Main Street to Old Turnpike Road. Both were reopened just before noon.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Southington Police Department Accident Investigation Team. No tickets were issued or arrests made, police said.   Anyone who may have witnessed this accident is asked to contact officer Jeffrey Ward at (860) 387-1600 ext. 2372.
