New Trial Denied for Komisarjevsky

State denies request filed by Joshua Komisarjevsky's defense team.

Superior Court Judge Judge Jon C. Blue ruled this morning to deny a motion for a new trial and a request for acquittal for Joshua Komisarjevsky of Cheshire. He was given the death penalty late last year for the triple murder in 2007 of members of the Petit family.

According to the Hartford Courant, Blue ruled that no outside influence kept Komisarjevsky from getting a fair trial.

In a 27-page motion filed on Jan. 11, Komisarjevsky’s defense lay out four reasons there should be a new trial. The motions included the argument that the family of the victims were “powerfully advocating” for the death penalty during the trial.
