Officer Pulls Resident From Meadow Lane Home During Morning Fire

Fire officials said a police officer and a local resident suffered smoke inhalation during a fire at a Meadow Lane home Saturday morning.

A police officer and local resident have been treated for smoke inhalation and they are recuperating following a morning kitchen fire that caused smoke damage to a home along Meadow Lane.

The officer, whose name was not immediately released, rushed into a two-story home at 11 Meadow Lane around 11 a.m. after dispatchers reported heavy smoke coming from the residence with one occupant inside the house.

The officer pulled the resident from the home as firefighters arrived and both were immediately treated on scene after being exposed to the smoke. Both appeared OK, fire officials said, and were released after signing waivers. Neither was hospitalized.

Fire officials said the fire caused smoke damage to the house but the flames were contained to the stove. The fire was determined to be accidental but further details of the incident were not released.

The homeowner, Arthur Kenney, declined assistance from Southington Community Services and the American Red Cross.
