Plainville Man to be Extradited on California Drug Charges

Southington police arrested the 26-year-old Plainville resident at a Southington home over the weekend after learning he was wanted in connection with a several year old drug case.

A Plainville man is facing extradition to California after a response to a home in Southington over the weekend led police to discover he was wanted in connection with drug sale charges there.

Officers took Kenneth W. Pinney, 26, into custody on Saturday and booked him on one order or extradition. He is currently incarcerated at Hartford Correctional Center in lieu of a $500,000 bond, according to Southington Police Department records.

Pinney appeared briefly in Bristol Superior Court Tuesday, officials confirmed, but the case was continued. He has not waved his right to extradition yet, court officials said.

Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said Pinney was discovered at a home in Southington during the day Saturday and was picked up when police learned that he was wanted.

"There was a request out saying he was wanted in Tehema County, Cal., for violations of failure to appear in a possession of dangerous drugs case," Dobratz said. "We contacted the sheriff's office and were told they would follow through with an extradition."

Further details were not immediately available in the case.
