Original Story
Plainville police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old Plainville High School student found in the athletic complex behind the high school early Tuesday morning.

Police Chief Matthew Catania told the Record-Journal that a woman walking her dog discovered the body of the male teenager in the bleachers area of the sports fields behind the high school. The body was found around 6:30 a.m., police said.

The Record-Journal also reported that the body was found hanging from the bleachers:

Unconfirmed reports say the body was hanging from metal bleachers. Superintendent Jeffrey Kitching is also on the scene and students are in classes as usual.

The death has been ruled “untimely” pending an autopsy by the Chief Medical Examiners office in Farmington, but police said it does appear to be a suicide.

The name of the student has not been released.
