Police: Bristol Woman Booked After Three Year Scheme

A local bookkeeper is facing charges stemming from the theft of over $34,000 from her former employer through altered documents, police said.

A local bookkeeper is facing charges after police said she had altered business documents of a former employer in order to defraud the business of just over $34,000.

Officers served a warrant on Doreen Milewski, 54, of 53 Sand Hill Road in Bristol, Monday morning. The 54-year-old bookkeeper was processed on charges of first-degree larceny and second-degree forgery but was released after posting a $50,000 bond.

A  police report said Milewski “allegedly altered multiple financial business documents and customer invoices of her employer for a personal financial gain of approximately $34,021 dollars from 2007 through 2009.”

The report said Milewski had been serving as an office worker at Evergreen Nursery on Woodruff Street when she was able to alter records. When the nursery conducted a forensic audit of its books, however, they discovered the discrepancies.

Milewski is due in Bristol Superior Court for arraignment on Feb. 22, according to court staff.
