Police Confirm Investigation into Fire Chief

Southington Fire Chief Harold “Buddy” Clark is currently under investigation following an incident involving Clark and a volunteer firefighter, but the is remaining silent on details relating to the “active investigation.”

The investigation was initiated last week following an incident between the two, multiple police sources confirmed for Southington Patch. They would not comment further on the case.

Members of the Board of Fire Commissioners told other media outlets including the Record-Journal that they are aware of the investigation but were also unable to provide insight into the incident. They said they would wait until an investigation is complete before taking any action.

Ann Dandow, the commission vice-chairwoman, told the Record-Journal that the commission is disappointed that the case needs to be investigated:

“I understand there’s not much we can do until the investigation is complete and we have all the facts,” Dandow said. “I hate to see a situation like this come about.”

Clark could not be reached for comment. Messages left with Lt. Lowell DePalma were not returned on Friday.

The commission will meet for a regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday in the meeting room at the , 310 N. Main St. in Southington.
