Police Explorers See Large Turnout for Annual Pasta Dinner

The Southington Police Explorers stepped up for the community, and themselves, during their annual fundraiser Wednesday evening.

The Southington Police Department's Police Explorers program hosted their annual pasta dinner at the Calendar House Wednesday evening, drawing more than 100 local residents.

The fundraiser serves as the primary means of funding for the program, which gives teenagers interested in a law enforcement career the opportunity to get involved with the , Sgt. Lowell DePalma said.

"This is a great event for the kids. It allows them to learn about community service and raise funds for uniforms and the explorer academy (in July) at the same time," DePalma said.
