Old Turnpike Road Reopened Following Accident

Police have said injuries were minor in a two-car accident that forced officers to close a portion of Old Turnpike Road late Friday morning.

The section of Old Turnpike Road connecting Route 10 to Route 322 has reopened following a two-car accident Friday morning that left one person with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers had closed the connecting road to investigate the 11 a.m. accident, sending motorists on a short detour along Route 10.

The driver of one vehicle was taken to an area hospital with injuries, police said, but the name of the driver has not been released. Further details were not immediately available.

The road closure is one of two Friday morning as police were forced to close Flanders Street from Annelise Avenue to Pleasant Street for a period Friday morning following reports of downed wires.

Connecticut Light & Power officials said few residents were affected.
