Police Investigating Weekend Accident That Left Two Injured

Some residents lost power temporarily in the one-car accident that occurred at the intersection of East Street and Savage Street on Saturday night.

Police are continuing to investigate a Saturday evening accident along East Street that left two local residents at area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The residents were each taken to area hospitals by ambulance, Southington Police Sgt. Lowell DePalma said, after the 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix they were traveling in hit a utility pole and rolled onto it’s roof.

The names of those injured were not available, although DePalma said police anticipated releasing names later today.

The accident took place Saturday at 7:43 p.m., police records showed, as was called in by the victims who reported the needed help. The accident occurred near the intersection of East Street and Savage Street but further details were not available Monday morning.

The victims were taken by American Medical Response ambulance to Waterbury Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury for treatment, but their current condition is unknown. Both were expected to recover, officials said.

The accident led to damage to a road sign, as well as causing some minor electric outages in the East Street area, Connecticut Light & Power officials confirmed.
