Police: Pawn Shop Tool Discovery Leads to Burglary Arrest
A Waterbury woman is facing charges after the discovery of tools at TC Pawn in Waterbury led owners of Format, LLC, in Plantsville to discover their business had been burglarized.
Police have charged a Waterbury woman with burglary and larceny after they said she took over $1,300 in power tools from an Atwater Street business in Plantsville earlier this year.
Officers served a warrant on Alissa Patla, 23, early Wednesday morning and booked her on charges of third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny. She was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court Wednesday and released after posting bond, according to court officials.
Patla, of 80 Shadee Lane in Waterbury, allegedly took a wide range of power tools from Format, LLC, on Atwater Street in January and proceeded to sell them over a several week period to pawn shops throughout the area, Southington Police Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said.
“Detectives were alerted to the thefts in March when owners of the company reported that they found their power tools at TC Pawn,” Dobratz said. “An investigation found that the tools had been sold to various pawn shops in the area and officers recovered $1,329 in stolen items.”
A police report indicated that officers were able to tie Patla, who was known to workers at Format, LLC, to the crime and also found she used her name to sell the items at pawn shops in Waterbury, Meriden and Wethersfield.
Patla is due back in court in early May, court officials said.
