The SPD mobile unit, , ambulances, CL&P and the Community Emergency Response Team/SWAT team all responded.

Neighborhood residents were warned to stay inside their homes because a firearm was known to be in the home. A few homes on Meadow Lane were evacuated, DePalma said.

Original Story

Police are responding to an apparent hostage situation on Lawncrest Drive.

Residents in that neighborhood woke up this morning to an emergency call from the Southington Police Department at about 6:50 a.m. informing them that police were responding to an emergency situation in the area. The call asked residents to stay inside their homes until they receive another call that the situation has been resolved.

According to a man who lives in the neighborhood but asked not to be identified, a man has barricaded himself inside a home, possibly with his stepfather. Police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, a police mobile command unit and officers in fatigues filled the street near Lawncrest's intersections with Quaker Lane and Meadow Lane.
