Police Seek Help in Finding Bank Robber

Officers have released surveillance footage and a detailed description in hopes that someone will be able to identify a man who robbed the Webster Bank on Queen Street over the weekend.

Police have released surveillance photographs and are seeking help from the public in identifying and catching a man they said robbed the Webster Bank at 359 Queen Street on Saturday.

The man had entered the bank just before noon and handed a note to the teller, telling her he was armed and was robbing the bank. The teller handed the man an undisclosed amount of cash and he turned and immediately fled the bank, witnesses told police.

The suspect never displayed a weapon and no one was injured, police said.

The man, described as being in his late 20s to early 30s and standing between five feet, six inches and five feet, eight inches tall, was last seen leaving the parking lot in a maroon sedan.

The suspect had a five o’clock shadow, police said, and was wearing a gray Yankees hat with a small white logo on the side, a dark brown zipper jacket with orange or tan hood lining, a red sweatshirt, underneath the jacket and light colored sweatpants at the time of the robbery, police said.

Anyone with any information is asked to call detectives with the Southington Police Department at either (860) 378-1644 or (860) 378-1645.
