Police Seeking Participants for Timothy Foley Tournament

The annual Timothy Foley Memorial Golf Tournament has been a draw in recent years and the Southington Police Department is looking to fill up the scoring cards once again.

The will host the annual Timothy Foley Memorial Golf Tournament in just over a month and organizers are hoping the eighth tournament will have its biggest draw yet.

The eighth annual tournament will take place Sept. 28 at the and is in honor of the only Southington officer ever to be killed in the line of duty. Foley was hit by a car and killed in 1938. 

"This event has been a success in the past due to the support and generosity of Southington residents and businesses as well as other supporters of the police department," Michael Shanley said.

On the Southington Police Department facebook page, organizers said "We depend upon people like you to make this an enjoyable day as well as a successful fundraising event."

The annual tournment costs $140 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, coffee and pastry, food on the course, lunch, a beverage cart and dinner immediately following the tournament. The dinner will take place at the in Plantsville.

Shanley said the tournament is still seeking event and gift sponsorships, but interested businesses need to act fast as sponsors need make a gift commitment by Sept. 1. and purchaisng green flags no later than Sept. 20.
