Police Seeking Suspect In Armed Robbery

Southington police are seeking help in locating a suspect involved in an armed robbery at the Sam's Quick Mart on the Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike Thursday night.

Officers responded to the 2211 Meriden-Waterbury Road store around 9 p.m. With reports of an armed robbery. Officers talked with the store clerk who reported that a black male had entered the store and come around the counter and pointed a handgun at the clerk, telling the clerk to give him all of the money.

"The clerk handed the suspect money from the cash register," Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz. "The suspect then ordered the clerk to lay on the ground and the suspect fled the scene."An undetermined amount of money was taken during the robbery. There were no injuries reported during the robbery."

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid 20s to early 30s, standing approximately five feet, nine inches tall and wearing a white button down long sleeve shirt, baggie blue jeans and a white baseball hat with a New York Yankee logo.

"It appears that the suspect fled the scene in a red sedan with a Connecticut plate on the rear of the vehicle," Dobratz said.
