UPDATE: Southington Apartment Fire Death Ruled a Homicide

According to reports, one woman was killed in the early Sunday blaze at the Summer Brook Apartments complex.

The state medical examiner has ruled the death of the resident in Sunday morning's apartment fire a homicide.

According to a WTNH report, the medical examiner’s office said 19year-old Kristen Milano died from smoke inhalation, however, the office did not explain why her death was ruled a homicide. 

In an interview with the station, which can be found here, her family said they are trying to raise money to pay for her funeral.

Update: 2:43 p.m., June 23

The victim of the early Sunday morning fatal apartment fire in Southington has been identified by police as 19-year-old Kristen Milano, who lived in the unit that caught fire.

According to NBCConnecticut, Milano was one of three people in the Summer Brook apartment when the fire broke out.

Southington Police are continuing their probe into what caused an early Sunday morning fire that claimed the life of a woman.

According to a report by WFSB Channel 3, the victim, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was found on the second floor of an apartment at Summer Brook Apartments on Darling Street. 

According to a WTNH report, crews from Bristol and Cheshire also responded to assist the Southington Fire Department in the 4:30 a.m. June 22 blaze.

Three apartments were damaged in the blaze, according to the reports.
